Carmel, IN
Mixed-use & Housing

This new 30.5 acre development transformed the west side of Carmel’s Downtown. As the landscape architect, Context created a vision of diverse public/private and active/passive spatial experiences for the residents of this 300-unit luxury community. The courtyards and plazas provide for small and large gatherings, active recreation, quiet reflective spaces, pool and sun deck, fire pits, grilling stations, and event lawns to host yoga sessions among other events. The main courtyard interacts and flows through the building’s architecture and the interior amenity spaces, blurring the lines of the architecture and landscape architecture. A 5-acre civic space and plaza adjacent to the multi-family development provides additional recreational opportunities for the multi-family residents and the citizens of Carmel.

Context Design Role: Lead Site Designer, Courtyard Design, Amenity Space Design, Pool Deck Design, and Construction Documents

Collaborators: Architect: Housing Studio (phase 01), StudioM (phase 02), Civil Engineering: American Structurepoint
